On the eve of the presidential race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, Oregon votes were rolling in with about 48.76% of ballots counted as of 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
Oregon was called by the Associated Press in favor of Kamala Harris by 55% with a weight of eight electoral votes. Benton County has voted 68.36% in favor of Harris thus far according to the Oregon Secretary of State live updates
In preliminary results from the Associated Press, Trump leads the race nationally, with 230 electoral votes to Harris’ 209. However, the results still hang on some battleground states, such as Pennsylvania.
Five Oregon measures are on the ballot as well.
According to the The Oregonian both Measure 118, which would increase corporate taxes and give $1,600 checks to Oregonians, and Measure 117, which would change Oregon’s voting structure to ranked choice, will not pass.
The Oregonian called that both Measure 115, which allows the impeachment of state officials, and Measure 119, which allows the unionization of cannabis workers, will pass.
Benton County voters have voted in alignment with the rest of Oregon thus far on Measures 119, 118, 115. However, on Measure 117, 56.41% of Benton County voters were actually in favor of the measure, which follows the fact that Benton County has already established ranked choice voting in local elections.
Measure 116, which changes the structure of Oregon legislature salary determination has yet to be called by The Oregonian. Currently, the state sits in 53.35% against the measure, and Benton County has 58.21% for the measure.
