After two seasons of leading the Oregon State men’s soccer program, head coach Greg Dalby has left OSU for Air Force, becoming the new Falcons head coach.
OSU announced that Jarred Brookins will be interim head coach and will be in charge while they begin a search for their new head coach.
In a press release from Oregon State University, Dalby said, “I have loved every second of my time at Oregon State.”
Dalby’s tenure as head coach in Corvallis was relatively short but historical, with his notable achievement with the Beavers being a run to the College Cup semifinal, coming up one match short of the national championship final in 2023.
This 2023 season was one for the books as they ended the year fourth in national polls, the highest in program history, followed by the joint-longest run in the NCAA tournament in program history.
While in Corvallis, Dalby led the Beavers to appearances in the NCAA tournament in his two years, with the 2024 NCAA tournament campaign ending in an upset at home against Gardner-Webb.
Despite the first-round loss in the NCAA tournament, Dalby’s final season in charge was successful, as the Beavers ended second in the West Coast Conference, ending with a record of 10-5-3. In 2024, Dalby led his team to break several program records, including longest points streak and most hat tricks by a freshman, records broken by Fabian Straudi and Sergi Solans.
Dalby joined the Beavers after longtime head coach Terry Boss departed in early 2023, coming in from Penn State, where he worked as an assistant. He will leave behind a culture of success as he cemented his coaching seasons into the history books for the OSU men’s soccer program.
Dalby helped guide several players to professional opportunities, with six players being drafted in the MLS SuperDraft, including three first-round selections.
Now, the Beavers find themselves searching for a new head coach.
The Beavers have work to do between now and the start of the new season in August, as several key players have departed, including a large senior class and players entering the transfer portal.
