‘Tis the season for beer, football and… polka? Block 15 Brewing is set to host their annual Bloktoberfest celebration in a big tent outside of their Corvallis brewpub on Jefferson Ave.
The celebration will take place Oct. 17 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Oct. 18 from noon to 11 p.m.
General admission to the family-friendly event is $10 online or at the door, with free admission for kids under 12. Party-goers will be provided a wristband on entry, which will be good for admission on both days.
According to the webpage for the event, those who show up in lederhosen or dirndl will receive half-off admission at the door, but not through online sales.
Limited-edition stein packages are also available for purchase online until Oct. 16 or until sold out. The package includes: admission for Friday and Saturday, a limited-edition beer stein, a first stein fill, a pretzel necklace and swag from the event’s sponsors.
“There’s nothing like holding a stein full of Bloktoberfest beer next to your friends while cheering on the football game in a tent full of Beaver fans,” the webpage says. “This year’s steins feature a bright gold metallic finish and are available in both half and full-liter sizes.”
Half-liter steins will cost $25 and full-liters $35.
“It’s an absolute treat to be able to provide an event that brings people of all ages together and showcases the talent of our team,” said Holly Amlin, marketing and creative manager for Block 15 Brewing in a press release. “We also have a stellar lineup of entertainment and live music this year, plus the crowd-favorite of watching the Beavs’ football game together. It’s going to be a good time.”
The beers at this year’s Bloktoberfest will include Bloktoberfest Märzen Lager, Deep Seek West Coast IPA, Black Gold Schwarzbier and Gloria! Pilsner from Block 15. Local cider, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
German-style food including beer pretzels, pretzel-wrapped frankfurters, spaetzle mac and cheese and German apple strudel will be available, all made by Block 15 Kitchen and Bakery. Vegan and vegetarian options are available on request.
According to Amlin, Block 15’s downtown pub will also feature German-themed specials the whole month of October.
Along with libations and food, event-goers will be able to enjoy college football on a big-screen, pretzel toss games, a German spelling bee, polka musical chairs, stein-holding competitions, face painting and a flash tattoo event from Studio Lumos Tattoo.
“A portion of appointments will be booked in advance, with some held for walk-ins,” the press release read. “Free entry to Bloktoberfest is available with any tattoo, and a complimentary pretzel-wrapped frankfurter is included with the purchase of a pretzel dog tattoo.”
The flash tattoo event will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The event will feature live music performances from Festival Brass Band, The Flatt Stanley Incident, Inner Limits and DJ Takumii.
“From my experience, Bloktoberfest brings people together,” Amlin said. “It’s a wonderful blend of OSU students, local residents, and tourists. The energy at the event is palpable. Providing a space for people to enjoy themselves is one of the reasons we host the event every year.”
