The Oregon State Softball season has finished up, and in the wake of the conference alignment, many players announced plans to enter the transfer portal over the last couple of days on social media.
Madison Simon was one of the many players to enter the portal. This season she hit .210 and started every game she played in except two and led the team in runs scored with 21.
“Thank you beaver nation for the best 4 years anyone could ask for,” Simon said in an Instagram post.
Other players announcing their intent to enter the portal include pitcher Sarah Haendiges, utility player Charity Sevaaetasi, outfielder Kaylee Oh, infielder Savanah Whately, utility Sidney Saenz, infielder Madyson Clark and infielder Kaiea Higa.
Whately was one of the more seasoned players on the team, spending the past three years as a Beav.
“Thank you isn’t enough to express the gratitude I have for this university and this program,” Whately said in a post. “I am so thankful for the past three years that I have spent here and will hold all the memories I’ve made close to my heart.”
Haendiges is the only pitcher so far to announce plans to transfer, and has also spent the past three years calling Corvallis her home.
“I cannot thank this university, coaching/support staff and my teammates enough for all they have done for me during my time here,” Haendiges said on her Instagram.
Both Whatley and Haendiges have entered the portal with two years remaining of eligibility.
The softball transfer portal’s spring window officially opens Sunday.
