Beavers Volleyball bids farewell to WCC in California road trip

Los Angeles – On a foggy night before Thanksgiving, the Beavers took on the LMU Lions at Gersten Pavilion.

Coming off of two straight wins against Washington State and Portland, the Beavers were not able to carry their momentum into Los Angeles.

In set one, Oregon State got off to an early lead before losing nine straight points. The Beavers rallied back before dropping the set 25-16. Set two saw the same 25-16 score in favor of the Lions.

LMU was ultimately able to pull off the 3-0 set sweep as well as a season sweep against the Beavers, who had no answer for their West Coast Conference opponent, who clinched a conference championship with the victory.

In the matchup, Loyola Marymount led 11-2 in blocks and had 16 less attack errors than the Beavers.

Annika Hester led the Beavers team with 21 total attacks. On the Lions’ side, they were led by Jiana Lawson, who tallied two aces and five blocks in the matchup.

The Beavers entered the road trip at .500 in WCC play and a struggling 3-8 road record. The matchup against LMU makes for their sixth all-time and the first match where one team has won consecutive matchups.

Oregon State women’s volleyball will finish their season in Malibu against Pepperdine on Saturday at noon, broadcasted on ESPN+.
