Dylan Perfect, Student Fee Committee chair-elect, was allegedly terminated from the Associated Students of Oregon State University through an email from the Office of the Dean of Students today.
The letter, shared in a screenshot on Perfect’s public Instagram story, states that he was fired due to “failures in (his) performance and/or conduct, including but not limited to adhering to directives and policies.”
Perfect later posted a photo of a follow-up “notice of allegations”, which stated that he may have violated the Code of Student Conduct for participating in a meeting that failed to comply with the temporary pause of ASOSU activities.
The Barometer contacted members of the Division of Student Affairs and admin regarding this event. Vice President of University Relations and Marketing Rob Odom said in an email, “OSU does not comment on personnel matters involving university employees.”
Perfect and members of the Student Government Committee coordinated a meeting to conduct senatorial duties despite the temporary ASOSU shutdown.
It is unclear if this termination decision will affect only Perfect’s current position as an SFC member, or if it will impact his recently elected position as SFC Chair for the 2025-2026 academic year.
“I don’t know if I’m being yanked off the committee. It should be noted that there is a process for moving ASOSU elected officials in which you initiate disciplinary proceedings in the Senate,” Perfect said. “It’s like impeachment, like the state legislature, right? Like any official, you initiate disciplinary proceedings with a simple majority vote and then with a two-thirds supermajority to remove them. That’s the process. So it’s not clear if they’re just sidestepping around that.”
Due to the temporary shutdown of the ASOSU and the Senate’s ability to meet, it is unclear how the disciplinary proceedings will take place, if at all.
The Barometer is looking into this story further, as well as other possible terminations.
