Editor’s note: This story has been updated to correct the food donation drop-off location.
As we move further into 2025, a temptation to begin spring cleaning in closets and homes may occur—but what about your pantries?
Oregon State is holding a Food Drive in conjunction with the Governor’s State Employees Food Drive for the month of March. All donations benefit Linn Benton Food Share, local nonprofit organizations and local food banks.
Food donations can be brought to the OSU Surplus/OSUsed Store at 644 SW 13th St. during their drop off hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Specific instructions for dropping off food at this location can be found here. The most wanted items for donations can be found on the Most Wanted Foods poster. Unopened pet food donations are also accepted.
Other events across campus are also hosted to raise money for the Food Drive, the College of Forestry being one of the most active participants.
“These participating OSU departments, extension offices and student groups compete during the month of March to be the top Food Drive fundraising unit. Students who want to help their unit in the competition should drop off food donations to their unit’s Food Drive coordinator,” said Teri Trujillo, event coordinator for the Food Drive.
These other events include:
- College of Forestry Book Sale
- Books, puzzles, CDs, DVDs, and records can also be donated
- College of Forestry Quilt Raffle
- Navy VS. Marines Food Drive
- College of Forestry Pet Photo Contest
- Handmade Card Sale
- SPP Plant Sale
And more.
The full list can be found on the Food Drive’s calendar of events.
Any volunteer inquiries can be directed to the coordinators of each event found on the Food Drive’s site.
