Global Opportunities Fair returns after two year hiatus
October 3, 2022
As travel restrictions loosen around the world, the Global Opportunities Fair returns to Oregon State University — held for the first time since fall 2019.
The GO Fair is organized by OSU’s Office of Global Opportunities, and is a three-hour long event that provides an opportunity to explore study abroad and internship opportunities through OSU. The fair is to be held Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Student Experience Center Plaza.
Programs range from short-term, faculty-led to academic year exchange programs. There are over 200 programs to choose from in 50+ countries.
“The fair is a great place for anyone who is just getting started thinking about going abroad to someone who’s already got a plan in place,” said Christopher Adams, international program coordinator at the Office of Global Opportunities.
According to Adams, students at all stages of their college careers are able to get something out of attending the event.
“If you’re a second year, third year student or even in your last year, it’s not always too late,” Adams said. “It’s a little harder in your last year to get an abroad experience, but we definitely have options that could work for you. Internships are good for that.”
For Adams, who began in 2019, the office of global opportunities is trying to get back into the normal swing of things and outreach is on the to-do list.
The Office of Global Opportunities had to scale back their outreach efforts in 2020 and 2021 because of the uncertainty of certain programs being canceled or postponed.
“We never fully shut down, but we’re definitely eager to welcome as many students who had to postpone going abroad in the past,” Adams said. “We recognize that there’s a lot of demand either deferred or from new students, coming back on campus for the first time in a couple years.”
