Family members of Oregon State University students are invited to the Spring Family Weekend, with many events going on throughout the weekend of May 3-5.
Events range from the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Joint Service Review at the Memorial Union Quad on Friday from 10-11 a.m., to the Breakfast Bingo at the MU Ballroom on Sunday at 10 a.m. to noon and the Ettihad Cultural Festival at the Student Experience Center Plaza from 4-7 p.m.
All events need to be registered for beforehand and the full list of events can be found here.
Brian Hustoles, associate director of marketing, communications and events for OSU Recreational Sports, said the weekend has many inclusive events and activities.
These events include a golf tournament or 5K run for $95, with golf registration ending on Friday at 5 p.m. The other events are free but attendees may need to pre-register.
“Dixon Recreation Center’s Equipment Issue Desk is an excellent place for students and their families to start. At the desk, students can check out the rackets and balls needed to play tennis, table tennis, pickleball and racketball. Other equipment options include soccer, volleyball, basketball, frisbees and footballs,” Hustoles said.
According to Hustoles, the Spring Family Weekend is geared towards students and their family members, helping students to connect with family near the end of the year before graduation. The event is intended to provide an opportunity for families to bond with one another and see each other after potentially long periods.
Students have plenty of opportunities to reconnect with family members during bonding activities and events throughout the weekend. There will be free access to Recreational Sport Facilities at Dixon Recreation Center and McAlexander Fieldhouse.
“As family members accompanied by current OSU students receive free access to Rec Sports facilities during Family Weekend, students can share their favorite fitness activity with their family members or try something new,” Hustoles said.
