Need resources but don’t know where to find them? The City of Corvallis and local organizations are partnering to hold the annual Corvallis Area Resource Event.
The event will be held on September 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library on 645 NW Monroe Ave.
“It’s really a chance to provide on-site services and resources to people in our community who are most in need,” said Amy Yardley, a founding member of CARE.
According to the City of Corvallis website, “Local service providers of all varieties will be present to offer a ‘one-stop shop’ for people in need to get engaged with important resources.”
Some of the resources available at the event will be veteran services, physical, mental and dental health, women services and childcare, housing, food, financial resources and legal aid.
“One of the things I love to say is you can get an I.D. card right there on the spot,” Yardley said.
CARE is for people who are “at risk of, or are currently experiencing homelessness, but I mean that’s a pretty wide range. So, anyone who feels they could benefit from the services is more than welcome to come,” Yardley said.
This year’s CARE will be different from previous years because it is the first year it takes place in September as opposed to March and it will also have expanded services.
On-site dental care is new to the event, according to Yardley. CARE organizers have also worked with the Corvallis Transit System to have transportation from further out in the county.
“Everyone is welcome. No one is being judged. Everyone is just there to connect and help,” Yardley said.
