This Saturday, the Beavers will travel to Reno to play against the University of Nevada Wolf Pack, they sit currently at 4-1 and 1-0 away.
Head coach Trent Bray believes this will be a challenging game because of Nevada quarterback Brendon Lewis, a transfer from the Colorado Buffaloes, who played under head coach Deion Sanders.
“We have guys that can get after the quarterback and that will be big for us,” Bray said.
Running back Jam Griffin is currently questionable to be playing as well after being injured in the second drive against Colorado State. Defensive back Jaden Robinson is also listed as questionable.
The run game is essential for the Beavers, but as for their offensive line, they keep it moving.
“I think they do a great job of understanding the scheme, who they’ve got to get to, making the correct points making sure we got the right guys blocked in those moments and then the backs are really good players with great vision,” Bray said.
Quarterback Gevani McCoy was recruited highly for the Beavers this offseason. His performance so far in the season has him with a 62.9 completion rate and only turning the ball over once.
“Those things showed up when he (McCoy) was at Idaho, he had big moments and as we went through fall camp he got more consistent in playing that position and understanding the offense and he’s shown that every week at the games.”
The Wolf Pack plays at a high elevation in Nevada and while some speculate it may be a big deal, Bray is not worried.
“It may not be as big of a factor as it is made out to be. I know when I’ve gone to Colorado it hasn’t been an issue even at their elevation,” Bray said. “It’s definitely gonna feel a little different, but a guy that’s in good shape is gonna be fine.
As we move closer to the end of the season, Bray said, “Every week is a wake-up call, there are no easy games in college football and every game is different even from looking at who beats who.”
The game will be streaming live on CBS Sports Network at 4:30 pm, on Saturday, October 12.
