The Oregon State Men’s Basketball team showed signs of great things to come for this upcoming season with their 83-63 win against the Montana State Yellow Jackets in their pre-season scrimmage.

The Beavers men’s basketball 2023-24 season was, to put it bluntly, was a season to remember being their last season within the Pac-12.

A 13-19 overall record and a 5-15 record against teams in the conference was a poor finish for the Beavers. They missed the playoffs for the third straight season with their last appearance coming in the 2020-21 season.

The team looks to move past significant losses such as their leading scorer, Jordan Pope, who heads west to Texas, and Tyler Bilodeau who will now be attending UCLA.

The Beavers do get some added help with their most notable transfer, Parsa Fallah.

Fallah comes from Southern Utah and averaged 13.2 points per game last season. He looks to bring some new young excitement to this new-look group.

Therefore, the Beavers ‘24 squad aims to break this playoff drought and return to the March Madness tournament under head coach Wayne Tinkle.

It all begins with their showing Beaver Nation this scrimmage against the Montana State Yellow Jackets.

The game was a showing in the paint with the Beavers’ young players leading the game in rebounds, specifically DaJohn Craig, who led the team on the night with seven.

The game sat at 47-41 at the half, the Beavers offense being much more on display with Fallah leading the team in points with 11.

The second half had more great connections with the young players.

With the Beavers leading in the second half in takeaways with 10, there was a strong showing by returning player Micheal Rataj, who helped cap off a strong finish.

It was Rataj who burned the brightest with a team-high 18 points going 8-of-12 in shooting.

Together the Beavers shot 49.1% from the floor, but they also allowed 36.5% shooting from the floor to the Yellow Jackets in an impressive defensive performance.

All in all, the Beavers came out to make a statement and performed in their scrimmage. With this sound showing against the Yellow Jackets the Beavers have a ton of energy and excitement they can not wait to show off to their fans this upcoming season.

The Beavers Men’s Basketball team makes their official return to Gill Coliseum and tip-off on November 4, 2024, against the Utah Tech Trailblazers.
