Oregon State University’s Provost and Executive Vice President Edward Feser is set to resign on March 31, after being named the 34th president of Saint Louis University.
“The presidency at Saint Louis University presents an opportunity for me to lead a rising urban research university with a mission closely aligned with that of OSU, emphasizing the public good,” Feser wrote in an email.
Since his appointment in 2017, Feser has played an integral role in significant strategic plans, including Strategic Plan 4.0: Transformation, Excellence and Impact and Prosperity Widely Shared: The Oregon State Plan, per a letter from President Jayathi Murthy.
In the letter, Murthy referred to the Prosperity Widely Shared plan as OSU’s “most ambitious strategic plan to date.”
“Our new strategic plan, Prosperity Widely Shared, sets forth ambitious yet achievable goals for enrollment, student success, and research, addressing both the challenges and opportunities in higher education in Oregon and across the nation,” Feser said.
Feser also transformed the OSU budget, spearheaded OSU’s COVID response, and assisted in the conception of the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts and Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex.
“With its terrific faculty and staff, President Murthy’s leadership, the implementation of the strategic plan, the advancement of the Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex, and the Administrative Modernization Program—among many other things—OSU is poised to do even more remarkable things,” Feser said.
Feser looks forward to his new role at Saint Louis University. ”Although I will miss being part of OSU, I will continue to celebrate its success,” he said.
Murthy assured that efforts to find OSU’s next Provost and Executive Vice President are active.
