Oregon State baseball fans across the country can wake up happy knowing that the Beaver pitchers were hot and the bats were even hotter.
Beaver baseball recorded their first four wins of the season at the College Baseball Classic in Surprise, Arizona this past weekend with the last game starting Monday afternoon, starting the season 4-0.
The lineup was slightly different than predicted, starters for the weekend included:

The Beavers tallied a combined 48 runs compared to nine runs given up.
Aiva Arquette led the charge offensively, batting .538 through the tournament and hitting a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the seventh inning against Xavier University on Feb. 14 to secure the Beavs come-from-behind 8-3 win.
First baseman Jacob Krieg, led the team with three home runs this weekend and had nine runs batted in. Krieg’s grand slam against Xavier on Feb. 17 capped a five-run first inning resulting in an 18-6 win to round off the weekend.
All bats were on against the University of Nevada Las Vegas on Feb. 15. The Beavs recorded 16 runs through seven innings resulting in a mercy rule.
AJ Singer, JUCO recruit from Iowa Western Community College, made his mark on the tournament by going 3-5 with four RBIs and three runs.
Beaver veteran, Gavin Turley had an impressive weekend with a home run and seven RBIs, four of which came from the 6-0 victory against the University of Indiana on Feb. 16.
The bulldog, Nelson Keljo, started on Friday, followed by freshman Dax Whitney on Saturday, junior college recruit Ethan Kleinschmidt on Sunday, and junior Kellen Oakes on Monday.
Whitney’s performance earned him pitcher of the week by Perfect Game. He allowed four hits and tallied eight strikeouts through five innings.
Keljo was given a no-decision on his performance, he allowed only one hit through four scoreless innings.
Pitchers Eric Segura and Laif Palmer did not make a start this weekend, but both pitched in relief.
Kleinschmidt and Whitney recorded shutouts in their orange and black debut and earned the win. Kleinschmidt kept a no-hitter going through the six innings he pitched.
The Beavs are back on the road in Round Rock, Texas for the Round Rock Classic, starting Friday at 4 p.m. against No. 2 the university of Virginia. The game today against the University of Houston was cancelled due to extremely low temperatures.
