An Oregon State University Board of Trustees board meeting will be happening Friday, March 17 in the Memorial Union Horizon Room. The meeting will begin at 9:30a.m. and is scheduled to conclude at 2:00p.m..

During this meeting, the board will consider and vote upon various fiscal budgets recommended by OSU administrators. These budgets include tuition rates, mandatory fees, and student incidental fees.

Other action items that will be considered include the operating budget outlook, the university’s FY2018 capital budget, a statement of mission, principles and core values and the handling of written comments submitted in advance of the board meeting.

The meeting is open to the public and will provided public comment periods throughout. Commenters can register via email prior to the meeting or according to Debbie Colbert, secretary of the Board of Trustees, registration can be done at the meeting as well.

A public comment period will be provided after opening comments and reports as well as prior to the Board voting on individual action items listed on the board agenda for the meeting.

According to Brett Morgan, ASOSU vice president and a member of the Board of Trustees, the public comment period early on in the meeting is provided so that students with time-conflicting classes still have the opportunity for their voices to be heard. Morgan encourages any students with concerns related to the action items to attend and participate in the public comment period.

“It could make the difference; there’s a lot of power in people’s stories,” Morgan said.

Full coverage of the event will be available through Daily Barometer media platforms including Facebook live videos, a photo gallery and live tweets throughout the meeting with the hashtag #OSUtuition.
