The Corvallis Knights won last night, 16-1, hosting Mid Valley Southpaws at Goss Stadium.
The Knights won the game, as the Southpaws were continually held back by the Knights’ pitching and fielding.
The Southpaws only scored one run which occurred in the third inning, and from then on were continually held back from reaching home.
According to Ky Hoskinson, pitcher for the Knights, the squad had overall a lot of hard hit balls and key defensive stops made by Colter McAnelly, who at the plate knocked a triple and a double.
The Knights were struck with a little bit of adversity in the sixth inning when the Southpaws had bases loaded, but an important strikeout helped them escape with no wounds.
Again, according to Ky Hoskinson, the Knights hope to continue getting good reads on the base paths and not providing free bases via the walk.
Last night was a perfect example of hard contact into deep outfield and not chasing any balls outside the strike zone.
The Knights plan to wear down the Southpaws was evident when, in the seventh inning, they scored seven more runs.
Ky Hoskinson said, “I thought we did a good job keeping our heads in and foot on the gas pedal”
Overall, Knights continue the momentum made throughout this season for another win. Catch the Knights next home game when they take on the Ridgefield Raptors on July 2nd at 6:35 pm.
