At long last, the Pride Center is no longer a room in the Student Experience Center and has now returned to its original location.
Vee Escobar, a second-year graduate student studying public health, currently works at the Pride Center and said they will be moving back to their previous building in the fall of 2024.
The open house in the fall is currently set for October 11, which coincides with National Coming Out Day and the 20th Anniversary of the Pride Center space. Specific times will be determined as the date gets closer.
At the newly renovated center, there will be multiple rooms for studying and event spaces rather than just one big room as it used to be.
“The newly renovated Pride Center will have a kitchen, gender neutral bathrooms, separate rooms, a community garden as well as a variety of new features that we will find out about,” Escobar said in an email.
Escobar said the best way to get involved with the Pride Center is through social media because it is “heavily involved on Instagram.”
There is still work being done at the Pride Center, but the goal is to have it ready and opened by fall of 2024.
Components of the new Pride Center were inspired by designs created by students in the College of Business.
Reagan Le, director for Diversity & Cultural Engagement at OSU, said the “designs from the students were greatly appreciated as the architecture firm took inspirations from various elements of the students’ designs.”
