Active Threat alert at Hawley-Buxton residence halls resolved

A witness reported seeing a possible firearm within the Hawley-Buxton residence halls tonight at approximately 8:16 p.m. and alerted Oregon State Public Safety officers.
A video confirmed there was an individual with a possible firearm at Hawley-Buxton hall. There was a safety alert regarding the active threat shortly after at 8:36 p.m.
OSU department of Public Safety officers went to the scene, located the individual and determined that the firearm was an artwork prop, and not a functional firearm.
OSU Public Safety officers determined that there was no ongoing threat to public safety and emailed an “all clear” email to OSU’s community at 8:42 p.m.
The university asks students to report suspicious and criminal behavior to the Department of Public Safety at 541-737-3010 (non-emergency) or 541-737-7000 (emergency).
