The Oregon State Beavers baseball team have been on the road since Tuesday, April 8, and since then, a lot has happened.
Turley takes the lead
Junior Gavin Turley hit his 46th career home run on April 19 and broke the OSU career home run record previously held by the 2024 No. 1 overall MLB draft pick, Travis Bazzana.
Turley and Bazzana played together for two years at OSU.
“Congrats on breaking the home run record. You’re doing amazing things this year and have done amazing things your whole career at Oregon State,” Bazzana said in an Instagram post. “You impressed me from day one with batting practice and taking balls out to all parts of the field. I knew you were going to do impressive things at Oregon State, and I’m excited to see it.”
According to Dam Analytics, Turley’s 415-foot home run had an exit velocity of 113 miles per hour, marking the hardest hit in his career thus far.
Home runs are not the only record Turley is chasing, he now has 168 runs batted in for his career, which ranks fifth at OSU and is only 11 shy of Michael Conforto’s school record of 179 RBIs.
Turley also ranks eighth for a career at OSU with 335 total bases.
Award season for Arquette
During the Beavers’ 10-game win streak, Aiva Arquette has led the charge offensively. He’s 22-for-42 batting .524 with eight home runs and 24 RBIs.
Arquette’s performance has placed him on the Brooks Wallace Award for best shortstop watchlist, alongside the Golden Spikes midseason watchlist.
Arquette currently leads the Beavs in multiple offensive categories, such as home runs (15), batting average (.383), RBIs (49), hits (54), and total bases (110).
Third in the nation
The Beavers have earned a No. 3 ranking from D1baseball after they swept Cal State University of Northridge.
On April 15, the Beavers soundly defeated former Pac-12 foe and then ranked No. 10, the University of California, Los Angeles, 7-1.
Over the past ten games, the Beavs have outscored their opponents 105 to 65.
The Beavers stand at an 11-1 home game record and have yet to lose a series to a ranked opponent.
The Beavs look to push their winning streak to 12 games with their meeting against the Gonzaga University Bulldogs on April 21 at 5:35 pm and April 22 at 2:05 pm at Goss Stadium.
