The City of Corvallis has suspended all normal city operations for Tuesday, Jan. 16 due to cold weather, according to a press release issued by the City.
With temperatures expected to rise just above freezing, the City has cancelled operations “due to persistent hazardous conditions on area roadways and the threat of additional snow and ice on Tuesday.”
The press release stated all scheduled events will be cancelled, but the regular City Council meeting will be held virtually only.
Online City services such as payments and applications will still be functioning through the City’s website.
Emergency services, such as police, fire and public works, will remain in operation through Tuesday, and the City has asked Corvallis residents to “Please do your part to help first responders by staying off roadways,” according to the press release.
This government suspension is being enacted as winter storms blast many other parts of the country in the first weeks of 2024.
