University Housing and Dining Services provides late-night food options to accommodate students.
The University Housing and Dining Services at Oregon State University oversees a wide range of on-campus food services made available for students, including late-night food options.
Over the past few years, the UHDS has extended dining hours and introduced new services, providing the Oregon State community with even more late-night, on-campus food options.
“Most people might not be aware of the late-night food options on campus; I know I wasn’t,” Brandon Gerosa, senior studying exercise and sports science, said.
Spread out among five different campus buildings, UHDS provides students with 22 locations to grab a bite to eat, as well as Food 2 You, a late-night food delivery service. On weeknights, nine of the 22 UHDS locations and Food 2 You stay open past 8 p.m.; the other 13 locations close at or before 8 p.m. On Friday nights, six UHDS locations stay open past 8 p.m. On Saturday nights, five UHDS locations stay open past 8 p.m.
“In order to better serve students’ needs during the later evening hours, we’ve added Food 2 You and La Calle as late-night dining options,” Jaime Herrera, assistant director and dining and executive chef for UHDS, said.
Operating out of Marketplace West, Food 2 You is a late-night delivery service made available to on-campus residents. It operates Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., delivering items like pizzas, pastas, salads and more, right to your door. Students can place orders online by going to food.oregonstate.edu, scrolling down to the “On Campus Delivery” option and then following the link to order.
“We deliver directly to our residents’ rooms, which makes it a very convenient option for students who live on campus,” John Moore, food service coordinator at Marketplace West, said.
Food 2 You also offers vegan and gluten-free options for students with dietary restrictions.
“We work to integrate nutrition, quality and passion in food,” Herrera said.
Food 2 You is also a safe option for those students who do not want to walk around campus during the later evening hours. The late-night delivery service began in Sept. 2015, and was created in order to better meet the needs of students whose schedules don’t align with the dining centers’ regular hours of operation.
“At Food 2 You, we strive to deliver the best product with the freshest ingredients to our customers in a timely fashion, as well as ensure that every customer is happy and satisfied with their experience,” Moore said.
Along with late-night delivery, Marketplace West offers late-night dining on Friday and Saturday nights.
“Tomassito’s, which serves pizza, pasta and other Italian food, will now be open from 9 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights,” Jennifer Rouse, marketing and communications manager for UHDS, said.
UHDS provides several late-night options operating out of McNary Dining Center. La Calle is a late-night restaurant open Sunday through Friday from 7:30 p.m. until 12 a.m. The restaurant serves burritos, tacos, salads, chips and more.
Students in need of a caffeine boost can also visit Raintree Coffee, a café which serves iced, hot and espresso beverages. Raintree Coffee is open Sunday through Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.
The last option provided in McNary Dining Center is MainSqueeze, a small convenience store that operates from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. five days a week and 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Here, students can choose from several healthy treats, such as smoothies and yogurt bowls.
