Corvallis Transit Service will be resuming weekend bus service on limited CTS and Philomath Connection routes, according to the CTS website.

The increased service will mean:

  • Hourly service for CTS routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 between 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
  • Hourly PC service on Saturday morning between 10 a.m. and noon
  • Hourly PC service on Saturday afternoon from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

CTS routes 7, 8 and 9, as well as Night Owl routes, will not see any changes.

According to Corvallis Transit Coordinator Tim Bates, service was able to resume after CTS hired and trained additional drivers, but added that the service was still several drivers short of being able to return to full service.

The services were suspended last August due to a shortage of drivers, which has been affecting transit agencies nationwide. According to Bates, driver shortages have had different impacts on different agencies.

“It really depends on the agency,” said Bates. “For a lot of smaller agencies, just one driver or two drivers leaving for another job or retiring can mean the  agency has to reduce service.”
