Police log: July 8-12

Vada Shelby

An officer was dispatched after a report was made of an overturned boat and two people in the water by the boat ramp at Crystal Lake. Dispatch said the occupants were having difficulty swimming. Upon arrival, officers found a woman standing in the water holding onto an overturned boat. She was not in danger. A man was about 50 feet down the river holding onto tree branches by the bank. An officer tossed him a rope and he grabbed onto it and was brought to the shore. The man stated the boat motor hit a submerged piece of wood and got turned over. Both were wearing life jackets and were unhurt by the incident. 

Sunday, July 7 

Theft 3- Shoplift

An officer was dispatched to a report of a shoplift that had occurred at a Rite Aid on Ninth Street. The suspect had stolen an 8 ounce container of milk and there was a possibility they had stolen a bottle of wine as well. The suspect was located by officers with the milk but not wine. The suspect was issued a citation for Theft 3 and a trespass notice for the store. 

 

Monday, July 8

Theft 2- Shoplift 

A Loss Prevention Agent from Market of Choice reported a theft from late June. They had been reviewing footage and saw a white male take at least six baseball caps and other food items from the shelves. The male left the store with the items without paying for them. The agent was not able to determine the exact cost but thought it would be between $120 and $160 of losses. The footage was placed into evidence, but a suspect has not been identified. The Loss Prevention Agent said they wanted the person charged for theft and trespassed from the establishment if they were contacted.

 

Wednesday, July 10 

Public Indecency Misdemeanor- Exposure

An officer was dispatched to a salon on Monroe Avenue after a report was made about a male exposing himself in public. The officer spoke with multiple witnesses saying he was exposing and touching himself in view of the public. Somebody had taken a photo of the suspect and the officer recognized them. The officer contacted the suspect and took them into custody to be transported to jail. 

 

Thursday, July 11

Theft 2- Bicycle 

On the afternoon of July 11 a person was arrested for Theft in the Second Degree. The person had stolen a bike from a local store the day before. The bike has since been returned to the store. 

 

Friday, July 12 

Criminal Trespass 2 

An officer was dispatched to the Fred Meyers on Kings Boulevard after a report had been made of a male breaking into a secured bike storage area used by employees. The locked gate leading to the storage area had been kicked open. Nothing was stolen from the bike area. The suspect was said to have scruffy facial hair and two bike tires with them.
