OSU’s campus operations open over winter break

T’was the week after finals and all through the campus, not a classroom was stirring, not even the LINC.

But fear not, for those saying on Oregon State University’s campus over winter break there are still plenty of campus services and buildings that are open, but with limited hours.

Dining halls

According to the University Housing and Dining Services website, dining halls will remain open over break, but hours of operation throughout the break may vary.

To check the weekly dining hall hours across campus check Food@OSU.

Winter term dining plans will also be unavailable until January. Students can, however, still use dining money from fall term, Orange Cash, credit, debit and cash at campus dining locations.

Student Health

Student Health Services remains open but with limited hours for in-person care, including complete closure of the rapid care express in Tebeau Hall. There are however, expanded telehealth options for students to access care and the 24 hour nurse advice line.

The Health Center’s break hours:

  • Dec. 18-22: 9 a.m.- noon; 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. telehealth only
  • Dec. 25: Closed
  • Dec. 26 – 29: 9 a.m. – noon; afternoons closed
  • Jan. 1,: Closed
  • Jan. 2 – 5: 9 a.m. – noon; 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. telehealth only

Basic Needs Center

The BNC will be closed Mondays and Fridays, open Tuesdays 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Wednesdays 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Thursdays 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The BNC’s food pantry hours will be from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 20 and Jan. 3 but closed on Dec. 27 when the BNCs hours will be 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Dixon Recreation Center

The Dixon Recreation Center will open at 6 a.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. on Saturdays and 10 a.m. on Sundays. The main center will close at 8 p.m. on weekdays and 4 p.m. on weekends throughout the break, and the Dixon pool and bouldering climbing center will also be open at the same adjusted hours throughout the break. Dixon Cafe will be closed for the entirety of winter break.

Other spaces within Dixon will vary throughout the break. The belay climbing center will be open 4-8 p.m. on weekdays only. McAlexander Fieldhouse will be closed throughout the entire break.

All Dixon Recreation facilities will be closed Dec. 23 – 25 and Jan. 1.

Other campus buildings

The Valley Library will be closed on the weekends but open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the weekdays for the entirety of winter break except for Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, when the library will be closed. Weekend hours will begin again on Jan. 7 from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m..

The Memorial Union will also be closed on the weekends over the entire break, with adjusted weekday hours of operation from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the MU will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

The MU Lanes and Games will only be available by reservation until Jan. 7.
