The Corvallis Sustainability Coalition is hosting a free Edible Garden Tour on Thursday, Aug. 29 from 5-8 p.m. in northeast Corvallis, starting at Corvallis Waldorf School.
According to the CSC website, the tour is designed for active transportation, like walking and biking, and is open to new and experienced gardeners. Many of the gardens featured will be in the front or back yards of local gardeners.
“Gardens will feature dry farming techniques, DIY and free garden material designs, very new gardens and well-established gardens, and innovative ideas to pack in food for humans and for pollinators,” states the event page.
Each garden will also feature the work of a local community artist, such as painting, poetry and fabric to align with the organization’s 2024 theme of “The Arts: A Portal to Sustainability”.
The six garden locations are listed in a post on the CSC Instagram page and on the CSC event page.
For those driving to the tour, parking lots at Cheldelin Middle School and Corvallis Waldorf School will be available.
The CSC is a coalition of individuals and organizations like businesses, faith, communities and government entities dedicated to community sustainability advocacy, according to their website. The organization gave its first edible garden tour in 2012 and features gardens from different areas of Corvallis each year.
