The Oregon State gymnastics team closed its regular season with a strong 196.925–196.525 win over No. 23 Denver on Senior Day at Gill Coliseum on Friday.
One of the most emotional moments came from senior Ellie Weaver returning to floor exercise. It was her first time competing in the event in 26 months, after she suffered an injury in the 2024 season.
“It was truly a full circle moment for me,” Weaver said after the meet. “After I hit my first pass, I felt everything in that moment and I was so excited cause that’s what I injured myself on the first time.”
Weaver’s father was also in attendance for the meet. It turned into an emotional day for him as he watched his daughter return to the event where she was previously injured.
“Just hearing the crowd cheer and my teammates cheer, I felt so loved,” Weaver said. “It propelled me to the rest of the routine.”
Weaver finished with a 9.875 on floor in her return. She also added a 9.800 on beam and a 9.750 on bars against Denver.
Along with Weaver, the rest of the Beavers delivered a consistent performance across all four rotations to secure the victory.
Oregon State opened with a 49.150 on vault and followed with a strong 49.275 on bars. The Beavers then posted a 49.075 on beam before finishing with a season-best 49.425 on floor.
Sophia Esposito led the team with a 39.575 in the all-around. She scored 9.900 on vault, 9.850 on bars, 9.875 on beam and a 9.950 on floor.
Esposito’s floor score tied her career high and marked her third 39.500-plus all-around performance this season. It was also her ninth all-around appearance of the regular season.
The bars lineup helped Oregon State build momentum with a 49.275 rotation score. Savannah Miller opened with a 9.850 before Francesca Caso added a 9.800.
Taylor DeVries delivered a strong routine for a 9.900 on bars. Esposito followed with a 9.850 before Camryn Richardson anchored the lineup with a 9.875.
The Beavers sealed the win with a powerful final rotation on floor. DeVries opened with a career best-tying 9.800 before Olivia Buckner scored a 9.850.
Weaver, Reina Marchal and Savannah Miller each posted scores of 9.875. Esposito capped the rotation with a 9.950 to tie her career high.
Buckner also continued her strong junior season with a 9.875 on vault. She has now scored 9.850 or better on the event in five consecutive weeks.
Saturday’s meet marked the end of the regular season for Oregon State gymnastics. The Beavers will now prepare for the NCAA Regional Championships in Corvallis from April 2–5.
