The Corvallis community was invited into Celtic culture this last week at the 2026 Corvallis Celtic Festival from July 16 through 19.
Celtic music, dance and workshops filled the city, taking place in many local businesses and on the city’s streets.
Beth Brown, one of the original founders of the event, explained all the events and workshops were free to attend, with the festival being funded through donations and volunteers.
“We wanted it to be in town and free to everyone,” Brown said. “For us, that’s the diversity we look for—that all cultures, ages, and physical abilities can be here and enjoy Celtic culture.”
Brown reminisced on past Celtic festivals and said that in the beginning, it was just a one-day event.
“It’s just been growing and growing; this is the biggest year yet.” Brown said.
This year’s participants were able to attend workshops on the fiddle, highland pipes, bodhran and other Celtic instruments. There were also a multitude of performances ranging in style and medium.
On Saturday, a crowd lined SW 2nd Street, clapping and cheering as they watched the Blackthorn dancers perform Irish dance. Surrounding the stage were booths for participants to explore.
Sandra, a first-time festival attendee and visitor to Corvallis who opted to not share their last name, said, “I’m happy to be here; I love the energy. They put a lot of thought and care into this festival.”
