Oregon State Beavers women’s gymnastics returned to Gill Coliseum on Saturday afternoon, but fell in a tightly contested meet to the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, 196.825–196.300.
Despite the loss, senior Lauren Letzsch delivered one of the night’s defining performances, earning a career-high 9.925 on beam to lead the Beavers’ strongest rotation. Oregon State posted a 49.350 on beam, its highest event total of the meet.
Afterward, Letzsch reflected on the mindset that fueled her standout routine.
“I really trusted myself, my training and did what I know how to do,” Letzsch said. “I looked to the crowd and my teammates and am grateful for their support. We really invest into each other and be there for each other.”
Her routine anchored a composed beam lineup that also featured a 9.900 from Kaylee Cheek and a 9.875 from Ellie Weaver, helping OSU win the event outright.
Sophia Esposito continued her strong all-around campaign, finishing with a 39.450 total — just 0.050 shy of Southern Utah’s Niya Randolph. Esposito highlighted her afternoon with a 9.950 on floor, Oregon State’s highest individual score of the meet, and added a 9.900 on bars.
Southern Utah ultimately secured the win behind a powerful floor rotation, posting a 49.450 with multiple 9.900-plus performances. The Thunderbirds also edged the Beavers on vault and bars, creating the slim margin that held through the final rotation.
The Beavers return to competition on Feb. 22 in Denton, Texas, competing in a tri-meet hosted by Texas Woman’s University at 12 p.m. P.S.T.
