There is something in the air around Paul Lorenz Field that André Zanotta, the chief sporting director at FC Dallas, keeps coming back to.
Dallas has signed three players from Oregon State since Zanotta was hired as technical director in 2019. Logan Farrington and Enzo Newman were signed to Dallas from the 2024 and 2025 MLS SuperDrafts, the annual college draft for Major League Soccer teams in the United States and Canada.
Farrington was drafted as the third overall pick in 2024, making history as one of three Beavers drafted in the top three of the SuperDraft.
After transferring to Oregon State his senior year, Farrington made an instant impact, scoring 15 goals, winning Pac-12 Player of the Year and making First-Team All American in the 2023 season.
Farrington made his debut for Dallas in February 2024, the only 2024 SuperDraft pick to start in the season opener. He has since become a pivotal player on Dallas’s front line. In his debut season, he recorded four goals and eight assists, which was tied for the most assists on the team in 2024.
Farrington’s smooth transition to the professional level was helped by his time at Oregon State.
“Oregon State impacted my professional career a lot,” Farrington said. “It was eye-opening for me to go there and see how professional the environment was. Because of that, the jump to the pro level wasn’t as big. I didn’t have to adjust to as many things.”
Even in his sophomore season at Dallas, Farrington has had a stand-out performance, playing in every game except one and starting in 18 matches. He has recorded five goals and four assists in the regular season and hopes to expand those statistics in the playoffs.
After the 2025 SuperDraft in December 2024, Newman played in four games for North Texas SC, Dallas’ MLS Next affiliate team, before suffering an ACL tear in March 2025. The defender from California has yet to record minutes for the top team, but is in line to do so once he returns from injury.
The team hopes to get to the MLS Cup game for the first time since 2010 and win it all for the first time in the team’s history.
