The Oregon State Women’s Volleyball team concluded its season in winning fashion, sweeping the Portland Pilots 25–17, 25–20, and 25–15 on Saturday night in Gill Coliseum.
With the victory, the Beavers finished the 2025 season with a 19–9 record, including 13–5 in West Coast Conference play. Portland State, meanwhile, fell to 14–15 (9–9 in WCC play).
The Beavers finished in 3rd place in the WCC, behind San Diego and Pepperdine. With OSU improving upon its 10-18 record from 2024.
“I think it’s a lot of growth from the players, leaning in and buying into the good over time. They have a lot of knowledge and leadership, and they’re just very good volleyball players, too,” Head Coach Lindsey Behonick said in the post-game interview.
From the opening whistle, Oregon State controlled the tempo, using service pressure and balanced production across its attack. The Beavers hit .303 on the night, besting Portland’s .182, and led in nearly every statistical category, including kills (40–33), blocks (10–4), assists (35–31), and digs (43–40).
Oregon State opened the first set on a four-point run behind kills from Annika Hester and Maeli Cormier. The Beavers never trailed in the opening frame. Cormier, who finished with a match-high 12 kills on .308 hitting, scored repeatedly against Portland’s block.
Setter Jackie Matias dished out 19 assists and added 3 aces, including back-to-back serves that stretched OSU’s lead to 15–8. Portland attempted to rally behind Maui Robins (8 kills) and Elin Larsson (7 kills), but the Beavers closed out the second set 25–17.
Oregon State quickly set into an offensive rhythm to start the second set and got comfortable, hitting .371 when the set concluded. Portland briefly held momentum after Larsson and Havannah Hoeft sparked a 3–0 run and cut OSU’s lead to 10–8. The Beavers responded with service pressure from Emma Lilo, who delivered 3 aces and repeatedly forced out-of-system passes. Oregon State pulled away late and secured the set 25–20.
In the third, OSU jumped out to an early lead with Cormier, Rumel, and Hester each adding early kills, putting the Beavers ahead 7–3. Kills from Portland State’s Jeryn Hildenbrand (9) and blocks from Hoeft and Taina Kaauwai kept the Pilots competitive as they cut the Beavers’ third-set lead to 8-11, but Oregon State’s rhythm never wavered.
Alana Marrs added 7 kills and 2 blocks, while Yasemin Narlioglu chipped in 5 digs and smooth setting in relief to help keep the tempo steady. The Beavers finished the set hitting .346, it being the second consecutive frame above .330, and clinched the sweep 25–15.
With four players recording at least eight kills and the team totaling 10 blocks and 8 aces, the Beavers demonstrated the balance and discipline that have powered their strong conference run.
“I think it was a culmination of all the work we put in this season. We were playing together, we were playing for each other, we were having fun, and it was really special to go out like that,” said opposite hitter Maeli Cormier after the game.
