Five Oregon State baseball players, all of them pitchers, were selected in the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft, which concluded Sunday afternoon after 20 rounds across two days.
For the first time since 2023, an OSU product did not go in the first round, but some trends did stay alive. The first Beaver off the board, left-hander Ethan Kleinschmit, went to the Miami Marlins in the second round with the No. 52 overall pick. The Marlins have now selected five Beavers since 2024, with the most notable being shortstop Aiva Arquette, who went No. 7 overall in 2025.
Kleinschmit played high school baseball in Mount Angel, Oregon, and played one year at Linn-Benton Community College before coming to Oregon State. Across his two seasons as a Beaver, he pitched 168 total innings. In 2026, he recorded a 9-2 record with a 3.74 ERA, taking over as OSU’s Friday starter after Dax Whitney’s midseason surgery.
Kleinschmit led the Beavers pitching staff in wins (nine) and finished second in strikeouts (97) behind Whitney in 2026.
The next Beaver off the board was right-hander Eric Segura, who was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the fourth round with the No. 105 overall pick. Segura pitched 200.2 total innings over his three seasons as a Beaver, logging a career-best 2.22 ERA with a 6-2 record in 2026.
In the 11th round, right-hander Wyatt Queen was selected with the No. 340 overall pick by the Seattle Mariners, the major league team closest to Corvallis. Queen pitched two seasons for the Beavers – 94.2 total innings – appearing in 21 games each year. He recorded a career-best 2.49 ERA in 2026 with a 1-2 record.
In the 14th round, the White Sox doubled up on Beaver pitchers, selecting right-hander Isaac Yeager at No. 405 overall. Yeager transferred from the University of Washington to OSU to play his senior season in 2026, where he recorded a career-best 2.04 ERA with a 6-2 record across 39.2 innings.
The final Beaver off the board was the team’s top closer in 2026, right-hander Albert Roblez, who went in the 16th round with the No. 485 overall pick to the San Diego Padres. Roblez, who also transferred to OSU for his senior season, recorded 14 saves in 2026, which was good for the second-most in NCAA Division I baseball.
Roblez finished with a career-best 1.50 ERA in 2026 for the Beavers across 24 appearances and 30 innings played. He was named a first-team All American by Perfect Game, College Baseball Foundation and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association following the season.
The Beavers pitching staff led Division I baseball with a combined 3.22 ERA in 2026. Oregon State finished its season in the Regional Round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament after losses to Washington State University and the University of Oregon in the double-elimination bracket.
Several Beavers went undrafted in 2026, including outfielder Easton Talt and second baseman AJ Singer, both seniors, as well as junior pitcher Noah Scott. As Scott still has college eligibility, he can choose to return to OSU for the 2027 season. Talt was signed to the New York Yankees as an undrafted free agent on Monday.
Drafted players could still find their way to campus as well. Top Oregon State high school commitment Blake Bowen was selected in the 18th round by the Colorado Rockies, No. 524 overall. However, players have until Monday at 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to sign with the team that drafted them.
If the player doesn’t sign and still has college eligibility, such as Bowen or even collegiate juniors Kleinschmit, Queen and Segura, they can play in college and re-enter the draft a later year.
Players who do sign with the MLB will almost always start their professional careers in the minor leagues. Oregon State product Travis Bazzana, who was drafted No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Guardians in 2024, made his MLB debut this year.
