On his 22nd birthday, Oregon State infielder Mikey Kane has been selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round of the 2023 MLB draft. He is the third Beaver to get selected in this year’s MLB draft

Kane played at College of the Canyons before transferring to Oregon State for his senior season, where he hit .281 with nine home runs and a .396 on-base percentage.

Kane played in and started all 59 games for the Beavers in 2023, and was named to the Baton Rouge Regional All-Tournament team during Oregon State’s postseason run.  He ended the year on an 18-game hitting streak, the longest of the season for any Beaver.

In his one season at College of the Canyons, Kane hit .317 and was named First Team All-Conference.

Kane is the sixth Oregon State player of all time to be drafted by the Chicago White Sox.  The most recent was Nick Madrigal, who went fourth overall in the 2018 MLB draft.
