Oregon State University softball second baseman Jaeya Butler, who’s been recognized for her home run hits and slugging, was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Butler led the WCC in RBI with 61, in home runs with 23, in total bases with 157 and in slugging percentage at .882. Butler broke OSU records in each of these stat categories. She also had the fourth-highest batting average in the conference at .393.
Her .882 slugging percentage ranks among the top 30 in the country. She tied for 10th in the nation for home runs and 11th in total bases.
This isn’t the first time that Butler has been recognized within the WCC – she was named Player of the Week three times this season, and was named an all-conference honorable mention in 2025.
Other Beavers got their flowers by being named to the WCC all-conference teams as well. Right fielder Morgan Howey, who was second for the Beavers in hits, total bases and slugging percentage (and third in RBI and home runs) was named to the second team.
Shortstop Camrynn Gordon and center fielder Mya Harrison were both named to the all-freshman team. Left fielder Jada Lewis and first baseman Tristian Thompson were named honorable mentions.
Butler was the sole player from OSU named to the first team.
The WCC does not host a conference tournament, and instead sends the regular season champion to the NCAA tournament. OSU finished fourth in the WCC with a 9-9 in-conference record.
The Beavers’ season ended on Saturday with a win against Loyola Marymount University.
