If you’re concerned about finding a parking spot this upcoming school year, fear not — or at least no more than usual.
Despite ongoing construction across campus, most parking lots remain open. Few changes to parking availability have occurred since students left for summer break.
If you frequent B2 Zone lots, do be aware that the parallel spaces along 17th Street near Halsell Hall are permanently closed to give cyclists extra room. This change occurred in July.
The narrow parking lot off of Campus Way between Milam Hall and Gilkey Hall remains, as it was last year, temporarily closed.
And as always, look at what the signs say: Oregon State University’s parking lot off of 16th Street near Monroe Avenue and certain lots along Orchard Avenue remain closed except for construction vehicles and personnel.
Parking citation fees have not changed since last year, but remain high. Parking without a valid permit results in a $50 fine — and yes, this is the case even if you’re planning to stay only for a few minutes. OSU’s complete Citation Fine Schedule can be viewed here.
As a brief reminder: parking permits for A, B, and C Zones and for ADA spaces are required Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., all year round. Permits are required everywhere else at all times.
If you’re in the market for a parking permit, bear in mind that there has been a slight increase in price for annual and monthly A and B Zone permits and for term-length R Zone permits. Annual and monthly C Zone permits remain the same price, as do daily permits. If you’re interested in learning more, OSU’s Parking Rates page gives all the details.
Remember that some parking permits, especially annual and R Zone permits, sell out quickly. Now is the time to plan for what you need.
Fall renewals for current R Zone permit holders began Aug.19. Open sales will begin at noon on Tuesday.
Renewals for annual A, B, or C Zone permits will begin at noon on Sept. 9. General sales will begin at noon on Sept. 16.
