With graduation season in the air, the Oregon State University class of 2026 is getting ready to collect their diplomas and take their next steps in life as college graduates.
This year, more than 8,739 graduates will join the more than 312,498 OSU alumni throughout the university’s history, according to preliminary data from Media Relations Manager Sean Nealon.
The record-breaking class includes 2,557 Ecampus students and 376 graduates from the OSU-Cascades campus.
The youngest undergraduate set to get a degree this year is expected to be 18, while the oldest will be 81. The median age of graduates is 22 and the average age of graduates is 26 years old.
Of the students, 4,632 are Oregon residents from 25 of Oregon’s 26 counties. Non-residents — of which there are 3,708 — are from all 50 states, Washington, D.C., eight U.S. territories and commonwealths, two U.S. minor outlying islands, and 15 overseas military bases.
OSU graduates will also have come from across the world. International students — of which there are 659 — from 72 countries will be receiving diplomas this spring.
Many graduates fit a lot in during their time at OSU, collecting several degrees while enrolled. Two hundred and twelve students earned double degrees, two students earned three degrees and one student earned four.
First-generation OSU students, whose parents have not completed a four-year bachelor’s degree, will make up 1,408 of the graduating class.
There will be 1,371 awarded master’s degrees, and 513 will be doctorates. Of the twelve academic colleges that students will graduate from, the smallest graduating class will be 95 in the College of Education, and the largest will be the 2,151 graduating with degrees from the College of Engineering.
Many graduates will also gain academic distinction for maintaining a high grade point average and other qualifying criteria throughout their time at OSU. One thousand and forty will graduate cum laude with a GPA of 3.50 to 3.69, 927 will graduate magna cum laude with a GPA of 3.70 to 3.84, and 1,353 will graduate summa cum laude with a GPA of more than 3.85.
At the commencement ceremony on June 13 in Reser Stadium, 4,404 members of the OSU class of 2026 are expected to be recognized.
