With graduation right around the corner, soon-to-be beaver grads might be wondering what’s next for them.
The Alumni Association at Oregon State University serves as a hub for alumni as they navigate their lives post-graduation and beyond.
Founded in 1873, the alumni center was formed to connect and engage with OSU alumni. The center often partners with the university to engage the OSU community, inspire investment and manage resources to enhance OSU’s impact and excellence.
Through the Alumni Center itself, they rent their facilities for various events serving OSU and the surrounding community. They also host their own events for alumni at various points throughout the year. The association also hosts events within regions, including Hawaii, Seattle, Boise and Washington D.C. The association also has a number of affinity and identity groups that members can join.
When asked about resources, Director of Alumni Engagement Piper Geniza was quick to reference the plethora of career resources available to recent graduates, namely OSU Connections and the Ask Alumni Webcasts. Both of these resources are only available to OSU students and alumni to get industry-specific career support by connecting with fellow professionals in OSU’s network.
Joining the Alumni Association is not without its fair share of perks. According to the association’s website, members can expect to see ticket, store and rental discounts along with “exclusive” access to career-building AI tools and travel programs.
Association membership dues are in three tiers: Lifetime, Orange & Black Club and Annual. Recent graduates’ memberships are priced at $750, $135 and $30, respectively.
Annual (12-month) members have access to all regular benefits. Orange & Black Club members receive all benefits, access to the VIP area at home tailgating events and a special gift from the OSUAA upon renewal each year. Life members receive all member benefits, a recognition certificate, access to the VIP area at home tailgaters, recognition in the Oregon Stater magazine and a special gift from the OSUAA.
The dues go toward supporting the OSUAA events, communications, services and scholarships.
For soon-to-be graduates interested in learning more about the OSU Alumni community, the Alumni Association is hosting a Grad Night from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 4 at the CH2M HILL Alumni Center. This event will have casino games, food, drink and giveaways. This will serve as the official kickoff to spring graduation events. Shortly after commencement, the association will be hosting a reception, also in the alumni center.
