OSU launches new ticket program for alumni

The Oregon State Athletic Department unveiled a new system of athletic ticket purchasing on Monday for recent OSU graduates called “SQUAD.”

SQUAD allows OSU alumni — one to 10 years removed from their graduation — the ability to attend any event hosted by Oregon State Athletics, including Civil War games or other events in which tickets are in higher demand. Up to 300 memberships to SQUAD will be sold in the initial phase of the program, each costing $19.99 per month or an annual cost of $239.

Signing up for SQUAD allows OSU graduates to attend as many games as they want and to choose who to sit by. All ticketed events are included — football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, gymnastics, wrestling and volleyball — while non-ticketed events like soccer or softball are unaffected.

Users can access their SQUAD account on iPhone or Android phones.

“It’s a first of its kind program in college athletics,” said OSU Deputy Athletic Director Zack Lassiter in a news release. “The season ticket model has existed for a long time in sports and it continues to serve the majority of our fans very well. However, as our fans and technology continue to evolve, we need to explore ways to evolve as well.”
