In celebration of Juneteenth, the Linn-Benton NAACP branch will host a free event at the Corvallis Community Center on Saturday from 2-7 p.m.
The event will consist of live music, catered food, games and a speech and workshop presented by Dana Emerson. Emerson is a communication professional who has taught at and led diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at Linn-Benton Community College.
Juneteenth, which falls on Friday this year, is a federal holiday on June 19 recognizing the end of slavery in the United States.
Corvallis city offices, along with other government services, will be closed on Friday. Only two Oregon State University dining hall locations will be open on Friday: The Grill and Global Fare, which are both in Arnold Dining Hall.
