The 46th annual Iatwa ina Pow-Wow will take place this Saturday, May 17, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Gill Coliseum, with grand entrances at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the wider community, with many of the event’s Head Staff visiting from different Tribal Nations.
The Pow-Wow will be emceed by Carlos Calica, recently elected vice chairman of the 30th Tribal Council of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and a fourth generation council member.
The Pow-Wow features Indigenous singers and dancers, as well as a marketplace of vendors. Head Woman Dancer will be Ramona Quenelle, and Head Man Dancer will be Anothony Quenelle.
This year, the dance contests categories are Jingle, Grassdance, Women’s Fancy, Men’s Fancy, Women’s Traditional, and Men’s Traditional. Prizes are available and the first place prize will be $1000.
The annual Pow-Wow is presented by the Native American Student Association and university partners, along with Kaku-Ixt Mana Ina Haws, OSU’s cultural center for Indigenous communities of the Americas and the Pacific Islands.
The 2025 latwa ina Royalty will be presented with their regalia at the Pow-Wow. The Iatwa ina Royalty are student ambassadors who represent Oregon State University’s Indigenous community at different Pow-Wows and cultural events throughout the year.
This event, alongside the Iatwa ina Royalty program, serves to strengthen the connection between the Native and Indigenous community at Oregon State University and the Tribal Nations of the wider region.
