The Oregon State men’s golf team wrapped up an impressive season with a trip to the NCAA Corvallis Regional, continuing what has been one of the strongest years for the program.
Oregon State finished seventh overall at the regional with a team score of 6 under par while competing against some of the top teams in the nation including Oklahoma, UCLA, Arkansas and Purdue.
Even though the Beavers narrowly missed advancing to the NCAA Championships, the regional appearance capped off an outstanding season for the team.
Freshman Nguyen Anh Minh led the way once again for Oregon State.
The Hanoi, Vietnam native finished tied for 18th overall at 3 under par after shooting a final round 70, the lowest round by a Beaver on the final day of the tournament.
Minh has been one of the biggest reasons for Oregon State’s success this season.
Earlier this spring, he captured the individual championship at the Bandon Dunes Championship after shooting 13 under par across 54 holes.
His performance helped Oregon State dominate the tournament and claim the team title by 17 strokes.
The Beavers finished the Bandon Dunes Championship at 31 under par, one of the best tournament performances in program history. Oregon State was also the only team in the 15-team field to finish under par in all three rounds.
Minh tied the Oregon State single round record during the tournament after firing a remarkable 10 under 61 in the opening round. He followed that with rounds of 70 and 69 to secure the title.
Oregon State placed three golfers inside the top four at Bandon Dunes. Rylan Johnson finished third at 7 under par, while Ethan Elleraas took fourth at 6 under after shooting a career best 65 in the final round. Collin Hodgkinson also finished inside the top 10.
The Beavers continued to show their depth at the NCAA Regional. Antoine Jasmin, Stanley Lin and Hodgkinson all finished tied for 26th at even par, giving Oregon State four golfers at par or better for the tournament.
One of the biggest strengths for Oregon State all season was consistency throughout the lineup. Every Beaver golfer finished inside the top 23 in birdies made during the regional tournament. Lin also recorded Oregon State’s only eagle during the event.
The season overall was filled with major accomplishments. Oregon State reached the WCC Match Play Championship round, earned a regional appearance and captured the Bandon Dunes team title behind one of the deepest lineups the program has had in years.
With young stars like Minh and Jasmin alongside experienced veterans such as Hodgkinson and Johnson, the futureof Oregon State men’s golf looks extremely promising.
