Unable to make a wireless call today? You may not be alone.

Some wireless phones and Corvallis institutions are experiencing phone outages today. For some, this may be a minor inconvenience. For others, there may be dire consequences. 

For one, Benton County’s 911 call number is down, according to Patrick Rollens, the public information officer for the City of Corvallis. To contact emergency services, people should call the dispatch number at 541-766-6911 if calling 911 does not work.

Rollens said that downtown businesses are unaffected and that phone lines at the city hall are still functioning.

Oregon State University phones are also affected by the outage and cannot receive incoming phone calls from non-OSU landlines currently. 

According to OSU’s Campus Alert System, campus phones will not be repaired until 3 a.m. Wednesday.

The Daily Barometer reached out to Oregon State University’s Department of Public Safety for comment but has not yet received a response.

AT&T phone services are also currently down in Benton County.

According to AT&T outage information, the outage is all wireless calls and is expected to be fixed around 11:30 p.m. tonight.
