Grand Kyiv Ballet Studio will perform in Corvallis with a highly anticipated performance of Swan Lake on Wednesday at 7:00 pm, performing at the Lasells Stewart Center on campus.
The company tours around the world, after beginning their career in France circa 2014. Over the last 11 years, the company worked to actively expand the area of its tours and has performed in countries around the world, including, but not limited to, China, Spain, Poland, Chile, and the United States.
“Our mission has always been to bring professional ballet to audiences everywhere — especially to smaller communities,” Oleksandr Stoianov, the artistic director said.
According to the director, each member of the company, from the dancers to the directors, have captured the hearts of cities around the world for their intricate choreography and classic music, composed by Tchaikovsky.
“We were fortunate to bring joy to many people who often told us it was their very first time seeing a ballet,” Stoianov recalls. “We are proud to continue this mission here in America.”
It was not until the end of 2023 that the Ballet began their major tour in the United States, concluding their shows in 53 cities in May of 2024. They have continued to tour the US since then, with a current tour happening now, and shows happening each night throughout the country.
Students are encouraged to attend this performance on campus, and enjoy the famous ballet, with a company who have performed on stages such as Opera National de Paris and the Palais des Congrès.
Tickets for this performance range from $29 to $59, due to seat placement, and can be purchased at their companies website, with accommodations available. The show is full of various costumes and decorations, intended to create a world that transports the audience into the story.
Stoianov also notes that although there is not a formal requirement for the dress code, the company would be delighted to see an audience wearing evening attire, including formal dresses, or suits. He notes that this attire is not mandatory, but will add to the event if chosen.
For more information about the performance, or to buy tickets, students and community members are able to use their website or use the Oregon State University event link.
