Early Tuesday morning, Oregon State officially announced that Deputy Athletic Director Brent Blaylock would be stepping down. Additionally, the school’s deal with Blueprint Sports, the recently appointed company to head OSU’s NIL collective, has been terminated.
“I am proud of all that we accomplished during my time at Oregon State, including supporting coaches and student-athletes as they achieved great success,” said Blaylock.
“I value the relationships that I have built with the incredible coaches, staff, and student-athletes, as well as the many donors that make OSU a special place.”
OSU Athletics released a statement this morning confirming the news that Blaylock was to depart in order to pursue new professional endeavors.
“We thank Brent for his work and dedication to Oregon State Athletics,” said Oregon State Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Barnes. “We wish him well as he moves on to new opportunities.”
Blaylock, who has been with the school for a year and a half, has been the chief operating officer in overseeing the budget of the athletic department. And thus, he was placed in charge of handling the Blueprint deal.
In August, the athletic program under Blaylock made the decision to partner with a third-party company, Blueprint, to aid in managing their NIL collective.
Three months later, the deal is off.
The agreement with Blueprint was to have them oversee day to day operations of OSU’s NIL collective, Dam Nation.
The move was met with much scrutiny, as Blueprint was taking a large portion of the collective money despite Blaylock claiming they would not.
It still currently remains unclear how the school will remove itself from Blueprint.
