Hailing from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, co-offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach JaMarcus Shephard is answering the call to become Oregon State’s 33rd football head coach.
Announced earlier this morning, OSU and Shephard reached a five-year deal.
“I’m extremely excited to announce JaMarcus Shephard as the head coach of the Oregon State football program,” said Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Barnes in the Beaver Athletics’ official press release.
“His character and persona are top-notch and genuine, which will make all of Beaver Nation proud. His values align perfectly as an exceptional leader who fosters a sincere connection with his student athletes.”
Shephard comes in from the Crimson Tide of Alabama, assisting in running one of the nation’s top offenses.
“He has coached at the highest level, with stops in the Pacific Northwest, and I cannot wait to see him on the recruiting trail and leading our football program to immediate success,” said Barnes.
As mentioned by Barnes, Shephard has spent time in the Pac-12, working with Washington State and the University of Washington.
Most notably, being a part of the Huskies national championship run, coaching up three drafted receivers all selected in the 2024 NFL draft, including first-round pick Rome Odunze.
“I strongly believe that his energy, enthusiasm and experience in winning programs will lead OSU football to success as we launch the new Pac-12 Conference and beyond,” said OSU President Jayathi Murthy.
