The Corvallis Winter Market is back this season, giving the community a place to shop local, grab a bite to eat and explore handmade goods on a winter weekend.
The market, located at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Guerber Hall, is held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting Jan 10, and through April 11.
The winter market will include farm-direct produce, baked goods, restaurants and artisan goods, according to Rebecca Landis, the administration coordinator of the Corvallis-Albany Farmers’ Markets.
Like the regular season market, the winter market offers Double Up Food Bucks, which provides a match of up to $20 per market when you convert Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program funds to winter market tokens. You can read more about Double Up Food Bucks and market tokens at the Corvallis-Albany Farmers’ Market here.
The winter market is made up of a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, with vendors located inside of Guerber Hall as well as outside under two cover sheds, according to Landis. As of this year, a new and larger shed is under construction on the northern end of the RV sheds adjacent to Guerber Hall.
The Benton County Fairgrounds are accessible from campus via the bike path that emerges on 53rd Street from the west side of campus.
“Just follow Campus Way west,” Landis said. “At 35th, it is closed to motor vehicles and just for feet and bikes. Motorists should enter from Reservoir Road and park in the huge gravel lot at the south side of the Fairgrounds.”
Landis also said that the transportation team of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition will be bringing bike racks to the south entrance of the winter market that will be in place for the whole market season.
