This past Saturday, Oregon State University’s 157th class graduated with a record breaking 8,785 students earning degrees.
According to OSU Media Relations Director Misty Edgecomb, an estimated 4,700 students attended the commencement ceremony at Reser Stadium.
The 8,785 graduates received 9,003 degrees with 211 receiving two degrees, according to Edgecomb. Two students received three degrees and one student received four.
According to an OSU news release, 7,093 of the degrees received were bachelor’s degrees; 1,400 were master’s degrees; 307 were doctor of philosophy degrees; 69 were doctor of pharmacy degrees; 78 were doctor of veterinary medicine degrees; and 14 were doctor of education degrees.
The College of Engineering awarded the most degrees, with 2,160 graduates, followed by the College of Liberal Arts which awarded 1,391 degrees.
A record 2,553 students in 73 academic degree programs earned their degrees through ecampus.
The oldest graduate in OSU’s class of 2026 was 81 years old, and the youngest was 18 years old.
269 graduates were veterans of the United States military service.
According to the press release, 2,405 graduates identify as Asian; 354 as Latinx; 346 as First Nations, including Alaskan Native; 326 as Black or African American; and 191 as Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander.
Of the graduates, 4,664 were Oregon residents and 4,121 were non-resident students, including 670 international students. All 50 U.S. states and 72 different countries were represented in the class of 2026.
This year’s graduating class included 1,448 students who were the first in their families to earn a college degree.
In the history of the university, OSU has given out a total of 312,543 degrees.
