Crime scene near Foster Farms on Thursday morning following an active shooter incident

The Baro Staff

The Corvallis Police Department got a call on Thursday morning about a “man spotted with a gun” at the Foster Farms plant located at 855 northwest eighth street in Corvallis. The Linn-Benton Community College Benton Center was put into lockout around 8:40 a.m. according to a campus security alert for that school.

According to Nick Hurley from the CPD, there is not currently a description of the suspect and it is unknown if the suspect was a Foster Farms employee. Hurley stated in a KGW press conference that the suspect was believed to be carrying a handgun, and has since been taken into custody. The SWAT team is currently searching the building.

According to Dave Busby from the Corvallis Fire Department, the call this morning stated an individual had discharged a weapon inside the building. The initial call was referenced like a bomb threat, so there was a lot of security brought to the building. Busby says when law enforcement arrived the person surrendered and no violence took place. No bombs were found in a sweep of the building.

Nobody was hurt in this incident and the CPD asks that the public still stays clear of the area for the time being. The lockout at the Benton Center has been lifted.

The suspect was identified as Adrian Nickerson of Albany on July 18
