OSU issues email warning of fraudulent phishing attempts

The Baro Staff

The university has issued an all student email notifying the OSU community that there has been fraudulent emails asking recipients to send student credentials.

Fraudulent emails, like the one mentioned in the all-student alert email, are designed to look professional and get users to give up personal information. This tactic is also known as phishing. According to OSU’s Office of Information Security website, phishing emails often prompt users for their user names and passwords, or the message may contain a harmful link like the one mentioned in the all-student email.

According to the all-student email, students who clicked on the link should contact their IT support team or the OSU IS desk at 541-737-8787.
