University Response to Twitter Threat

At about 5:42 p.m., Oregon State University sent out an email acknowledging the negative impacts the threatening tweets had on the OSU community this week. The university was made aware of the threats at 12:02 p.m. yesterday and ultimately sent out a notification over social media at about 12:52 p.m. after the message was approved by public safety officials.

The email says that OSU safety remains a number one priority, and that the university will take additional action towards maintaining safety on campus. Actions include expanding the capacity to identify threats on social media, maintain law enforcement patrols, communicate to the immediate public, as well as families of students. The university will also continue trainings related to active shooters, improve campus security features and procedures and remain sensitive to questions about safety procedures.
