Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday.

The restaurant chain’s Corvallis location on 9th Street closed on August 15. This was a result of the announcement made by Ruby Tuesday Inc. on August 11 to close 95 underperforming locations by September. The Corvallis location had been in operation since August 2002.

The closure was sudden, as silverware, tablecloths and specials menus were left on the tables.

J.J. Buettgen, CEO and chairman of the board of Ruby Tuesday Inc., provided reasons for the closure in a news release.

“The decision to close restaurants is a difficult but necessary step as we take aggressive actions to strengthen our organization,” Buettgen said in the news release. “Performance at each of these locations, despite the loyalty of valued guests and the efforts of our dedicated employees, was not meeting expectations”.

Buettgen also added that employees from the closing locations will be offered positions at nearby restaurants if possible.

According to the news release, Ruby Tuesday had 724 restaurants worldwide as of June 2016.
